BREAKING CRUISE NEWS- MAN OVERBOARD ON NCL SHIP | UPDATE ON NCL ESCAPE & VIRGIN VOYAGE CONTROVERSY

In Breaking News this past weekend a 31-year old man jumped off the NCL Breakaway Cruise Ship and was never found as the Coast Guard has called off the search. There has been developments for the NCL Escape Situation. The ship has run aground causing potential damage to the vessel and cancellations for its current and future sailing. Virgin Voyages has also made a round of cancellations for what it’s believe to be TV Reality Show contract. Many are calling this move controversial or genius.

  1. hey bro i worked on the escape during the same time you use to worked there but a bit longer and that is what the captain use to do cancell these port regular especially when we use to go to falmouth jamaica he used to circle around and then go and the say its the weather and there was other ships in the same port and the cap saying its the weather i believe that the captain dont know how to navigate these water

  2. Had a bad experience on MSC Grandoisa 7 days from Rome. No more MSC cruises for me after 6. We were required to have insurance, $150/ person than when we arrived at the ship, with all the published requirements to board, 2 vaccinations with a booster and a negative rapid test within the time requirement. They would nor let us board without a $80 PCR TEST each because we were Americans. That we were held hostage on the ship and could not get off at any destination without paying them for an excursion. At the same time at every stop hundreds of passengers got off and on the ship.

  3. Pause.. hi I’m new to cruising… so virgin canceled a sailing because they found a better business deal and are only giving 20-50% cruise credit??? Or is this they get all their money back and 20-50% cruise credit???

  4. Was on a RSVP “Private Cruise” – it is an LGBT cruise. They are a bit more expensive, but what they do is go through and cherry pick the cruise ships entertainment offerings and also bring in their own entertainment – drag queens, singers, DJ’s and so on. No children, few straight people (besides the crew) and not many really old people……

  5. I was on the Escape March 12th. They could not get their shit together. They were flying families on different flights to Orlando. They had a 3 yr and 5 yr old flying on one flight and their parents on another. This was happening to so many families. It took us three days to finally get it straight. Then they dropped 1000 people off at the port from 9-4:30 while the ship pulled out. It was a nightmare They did not know how to handle this situation at all.
Which is a scary thought. Once we were off that boat on Friday they had no Norwegian representatives. Really a terrible company.

  6. re: Virgin voyages cancelling for a TV show. Think about the exposure they will get from the audience of the show. perhaps millions of people saying, Wow, look at this ship, I want to sail on that ship. Free advertising, on top of whatever the show is paying to charter the ship for 3 weeks.

  7. Regarding Virgin Voyages, if the TV production company paid them enough money to cancel not one, not two, but THREE consecutive sailings with just one month's notice to booked passengers, then they really should have turned around and given some of that extra revenue to the passengers who were booked. Full refund, 100% FCC for a future cruise, and a cash dollar amount per passenger to help cover lost travel expenses.

I've been on a full-boat music charter (70,000 Tons of Metal) six years in a row, and yes, they can be a huge money-maker for the cruise line, but charters are usually arranged at least six months and often a full year in advance. For charter-driven cancellations with only a month's warning, I think Virgin should cough up more recompense as a good-faith gesture, especially since they are the new guys on the scene and they are NOT hurting for cash.

  8. > "…can't really blame NCL for what happened…"
Umm, maybe if the skipper hadn't run their ship aground, this whole incident wouldn't have happened. So yeah, we can blame NCL.
At least they didn't crash into a dock like MSC did….twice.

  9. Many strange things happen at sea . Was on an MSC cruise and was aware of missing people .
Obviously they got the divers down on Norwegian Escape , obviously some damage .
Think these ships catch the wind too much ,believe the Escape recited some damage in Italy in wind berthing .

  10. I assumed that the Escape was dealing with a spring spring tide because we have a full moon near the Spring Equinox. There is a lot of windage in top-heavy boats like the Escape and with shallow water it would be hard to get much traction with the thrusters. I am not surprised that a lot of people would be critical of a captain for being cautious because most people have no knowledge of what is involved with the job. I have heard that there were 3200 passengers onboard which sounds like a lot to me because I haven't heard of any ship recently carrying that close to capacity so it's even more sad that that many people lost their vacation.
