She told me you were a poor boy who drove a truck and became a star after recording a song for you momma. A small town girl, I shivered in fear from the back seat of my dad's old LTD driving to Oklahoma City the first time I heard, "In the Ghetto". And on the old dirt roads in Creek County Oklahoma, my dad taught me to drive listening to "Aloha from Hawaii" on his old 8 track. And I was in Drumright, Oklahoma when my heart broke right open when they said you had died. It was like a part of America died when you left us. Inconsolable, after days of crying my dad took me to the drugstore, to wire my condolences to your family as a way to express my grief. I am so glad I was born when you were alive.
