World Road Cycling Championships 2005 – Tom Boonen takes the rainbow jersey

Tom Boonen epic 2005 season ended with him becoming World Champion. The men’s elite race was held on Sunday September 25, 2005 in Madrid, Spain, over a total distance of 273 kilometers. It was not a very hard route, but the riders made it hard. The Danish rider Jakob Piil was in almost every break away and was very very strong. Alejandro Valverde, Paolo Bettini and Philippe Gilbert was also among the riders that tried to make the race. But in the end it all came down to a sprint. Despite his efforts in the race Jakob still managed to becom 6th in the sprint. But the win was a duel between Alejandro Valverde and Tom Boonen. In 2005 Boonen could not loose, and won the sprint and took the rainbow jersey home, home to his green jersey and his cobblestone from the same season.

Danish Dynamite: An introduction to Danish Football & the 3F Superliga

Around 2:40 I had to trim some footage out on behalf of UEFA, so if that bit seems a bit weird thats why!

This is more of a Team Talks video than a regular FIFA one, but let me know if you think i should cover Denmark in a more FIFA orientated video.

Today we’re taking a look at one of the minnows of world football. Danish Dynamite refers to a period in the 1980s where the Danish style of football took the world by shock.

Featuring the Laudrup brothers and Jan Molby, they played with a similar style to Dutch football in the 1970s (total football)

We’ll take a brief look into the history of both their national team and the 3F superliga (the top flight of Denmark’s football pyramid) and introduce you to how the league works as well of the style of play they have.
