  2. Another thing, what's the state of the drought in Spain. We're in California and drought here is a pest. The recent torrents helped, fortunately. I'm wondering if Spain is facing similar conditions. Thanks!

  3. You don't need to be Spanish to understand bullfighting. I grew up in Ecuador, where they had it. I think Mexico may have banned it as well. And no, it's not in your blood, unless you are (favorite pejorative goes here). I find it interesting that 2 of the biggest horrors Spain exported are dying. The Inquisition, oops! The Catholic Church, and bullfighting.

The worst thing about bullfighting when I was growing up was that people wouldn't go for the fight itself, but to party on the stands. Torture and murder on the arena, while drunk people party without a care about the bull.

  4. Stu, when you say, you think the priest was from Africa, judging by his appearance… Presumably you mean because he was black? I get the point that priests are coming to work in Spain from other parts of the world, but if he were black, then he could’ve been from the Caribbean, Latin America, France, the UK, German, USA…

  5. Hi Stuart – I've been enjoying your informative videos for about 3 years now, thanks for these videos. I also own a "Hola Amigos, Que tal?" t-shirt!

One important question today: Can one obtain a spanish work permit for teaching English? I am from the US, and I do want to live in Spain for an extended period. Leaving my stressful bank position in a few weeks, taking my TEFL course, and hoping to teach and live in Spain.

Thanks in advance for your reply,
    Larry D

  6. Just want to say as well about the bull fighting.. What entertainment is there to see with the torture and cruelty of both bulls and the horses. I can’t even watch it on TV let alone go down to Ventas. Pasó.

  7. They will be starting a dna tests . I actually saw a team taking specimens to later analysize. I think that’s great. People can be very lazy so maybe a nice little fine will give them incentive to pick up after their dog.

  8. Las fallas. What a waste of water. Two fire engines squirting water over the buildings whilst they burn the structures. Valencia had 170 structures to burn. And many villages in community Valencia all doing the same thing. It should be banned because we have a water shortage and also all the fireworks disturb people and animals

  9. It wasn’t Covid, it was the lockdown rules that destroyed businesses. It’s being recognised that the lockdown rules didn’t work at all but destroyed the hospitality industry to a large extent, as well as so many other businesses. The lockdown rather than the virus . The establishments that survived have to recoup their losses. Inflation is also damaging everything. I used to frequent a cafeteria attached to my local shopping centre. Now I don’t. Their prices have risen by about 50% lately.

  10. I fully understand wait staff work extremely hard but 1300e a month is far better than ayuda of roughly 500e a month no ??..plus they do get tips which makes Thier monthly income slightly better but I suppose that depends on how the owner decides how tips are divided 🤔

  11. Anyone having experience in claiming their retirement pension after they've worked many years in Spain and returning to their home country, is it problematic (both EU and Non EU citizens)? Asking for a friend. Thanks for sharing Stu, your news updates highly appreciated. Cheers from Barcelona 🇪🇸♥️
