Hello buddy, well, despite the fact that you are just not very aware of what Barcelona has to offer in general, then what you just visited and/or walked around are just places that are mostly touristic areas. However, the city in itself it is very beautiful and unbelievable nostalgic for many people, including myself, as well as these locals I would assume. I am an European born, and used to live in Barcelona, back in late 90” in Barceloneta, and also in Esplugues-de-Llobregat in back on 05”/06” too. All I can tell, is that, Barcelona changed immensely, while I truly don’t recognize it anymore in many ways, such as clogged with a lot of people, much dirty than used to be, meaning not as much as being cleaned as it used to be each and every night, quite and friendly, most of the time. These lates “days” it appears to be mostly a jungle I would described it, and a total disappointment while many people that came and/or moved from around the world just changed the old “vibe” and beauty that I was used too. Shops that are not there anymore and which were so nostalgic in many ways, such as neighborhood were having many nice and friendly small shops, but which these days later and recently were replaced with a lot of new developments in some cases or just new unpleasant corner foreign markets that are mostly not as being as pleasant anymore, attrac a lot of wrong “riffraff” strange dudes, unfortunately.. There are scammers all of the places and pickpockets as well as profiteers that barely wait to sell you some “stuff”… Just not as safe as it used to be in my opinion, although it is an amazing place to live or visit, but it become almost unaffordable in many many ways. I missed my old town Barcelona, and the life that I remember back then, although I had an opportunity to move to US back in 99”, and I did.. Regrettably, I might never ever consider moving back to Spain, in one day, due to getting so much used to live in US for more than 24 years, and in which my last visit that I made back “home”, then that was a disappointment and a very big unpleasant experience while seeing the town totally not talking care of, since the recent mayor back then was obviously not as much as interested into “helping” his community as it should… Besides that, I was never a very big fun or separating Cataluna from Spain…. I do remember when I used to live in Espana and back in Barcelona, of why the Catalans would like to vote for separation, but I never ever agreed with such unbelievable unpatriotic desire, and/or personal interest or approach, therefore thanks God that did not happened. Anyway, regardless of how many people might agree or disagree, then Spain it is a very beautiful country and it has its place in Europe as being one of THE best place to visit, in my opinion.. On the other hand, THE 2nd, place it is Ireland, also in my opinion, and that is also a fact that many of you out there might agree with me. Ireland it is a very beautiful country too, or I just felt in love with that place myself, but I think it is an amazing place to visit too.. France and Norway, As well as Sweden and Iceland in case anyone of you love true nature, in particular in the winter.. Cheers and please, Vaya con Dios muchachos!!!
