Join Cultural Historian Elizabeth Drayson discuss her recent book The Moors Last Stand: How Seven Centuries of Muslim Rule To Spain Came To An End, with Issac Green who received in Masters in History and currently works for the Jersey City Free Public Library. Dr. Drayson book examines how “In 1482, Abu Abdallah Muhammad XI became the twenty-third Muslim King of Granada. He would be the last. This is the first history of the ruler, known as Boabdil, whose disastrous reign and bitter defeat brought seven centuries of Moorish Spain to an end. It is an action-packed story of intrigue, treachery, cruelty, cunning, courtliness, bravery and tragedy.”
Elizabeth Drayson was an undergraduate at Newnham College, Cambridge and is currently Lorna Close Fellow in Spanish at Murray Edwards College, College Lecturer in Spanish at Peterhouse, and an Affiliated Lecturer in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese. She specializes in medieval Spanish literature and cultural history, and the relationship between Arabic, Jewish, and Christian culture during the Middle Ages and Early Modern period. She received her Masters and PhD at Cambridge University.
