Our Jersey Milk Cow Macey is just about to calve. We have got a lot to do to get her calving pen ready and keep a close eye on her to make sure she’s in that pen when her time comes.

I appreciate the transitions with additional feeding information. I have looked for a year for such comprehensive info online. I guess I should just stick to "YouTube University". Sending this to the husband for a quick class. Thank you for taking your valuable time to show us your set-up. I am truly grateful. Would you be interested in the feed system for the pregnant cow leading up to the birth? Please??
i am impressed guys ,, where exactly are you living ???? that is a lot of open space ….. fantastic !!!!!!!!!!!
She is such a georgeous mamma!
Yea milk, butter, Yogurt, cultured cream….yummmmmm
Hi Big Family Homestead, I sure do enjoy ya'll videos.
I want to read this book and Just wondering, if ya'll will be reading the book when it comes out —> The Farmer's Son: Calving Season on a Family Farm
"The Farmer’s Son is the story of a calving season, and the story of a man who emerges from depression to find hope in the place he least expected to find it. It is the story of Connell's life as a farmer, and of his relationship with the community of County Longford, with his faith, with the animals he tends, and, above all, with his father." description from Amazon.God Bless Ya'll.
When Macy got a glimpse of that stall, oh boy, she claimed it! Lol. Then Dottie turned around and made a go for it but was too late. My kids used to do that. ?
Stay Dry! Been mucking and mucking and prepping garden beds, and waiting on babies ourselves.
You guys should be duo radio announcers. I enjoy you every day.
Brad you have such a great radio, tv, voice over tone-
Maisie's maternity stall looks large & comfy – good luck with the new baby
Well good luck with the calving process! This afternoon our last goat/doe of the season kidded 2 doelings and 1 buckling.
Great info and wonderful video as always!
How exciting, can’t wait for the new arrival! ? Thanks for sharing Brad and Christa!
Does Macy have A2A2 milk? Are you planning on letting calf drink all day and and after a month? putting calf up at night and only milking cow in morning? Sharing ? Not sure how to do sharing, but if you go somewhere overnight, calf could have all the milk till you came home.
she is so cute. Can't wait for the arrival.
I hope you are going to video or live stream the birth my grandson is looking forward to it, and as city folk its a great opportunity for kids to see
I agree with what someone else said that you should do voice overs or narration! Also it was great information for the Jersey!!!
You two did a great job of backing up the van and hooking up the trailer!!!
Great video. A++
If you have a nice grassy area, that would be way better than the barn. Cleaner and much less risk of disease and scours. The stall is a good option in bad weather but grass and sun is best if possible.
I love documentaries. Very informative. Thank you.
New member in the family. Excitement. Anticipation. Maternity ward. ✌
Either way, it seems to be a win win.
I liked the added text/voiced info.
Good luck to Macy
Excited for your new addition! 🙂
Brad you really should do voiceovers. Your narrating is mesmerising. You would be great on the History, Discovery, Religious or any documentary channels. Great video cannot wait for the calf to be born.
I pray it's a female, so it doesn't have to see the butcher
Very interesting…we have visited the Dairy farm at Virginia Tech a couple of times and learned a lot. You shared even more great information. Makes me appreciate our Milk we drink…Good Luck to Macey
Hefer would be great??
I suggest 1st or 2nd cutting on hay..more nutrition and tender then 3rd ( 3rd tends to be a lot of stems) .. we pulled our calves after 2nd week and bottle fed … A little molasses in the feed will help transition the calf to grain decreasing the molasses gradually… Just suggestion
Soon you will have more milk than you need. Time to learn how to make cheese, butter, sour cream. I hope she has a heifer.
Good Morning, Oh!!! great Mamie and Daddy. Have a great and blessed day!!!
Love the big space for the stall!
