  1. I think you are doing Safonov a disservice. The perspective from the camera is deceiving as the ball dives very close to the goal and Damsgaard goes from being behind the defender to shooting in less than a second.

  2. The bit with Sancho that isnt talked about enough is the fact that hes played sancho in almost every friendly for the last 2-3 years only to suddenly lose all faith in him and cast him aside, so strange

  3. In terms of England, I get no satisfaction from playing two games and not conceding a goal when we've only scored one and have probably had less than five shots on target with arguably the best attacking options we've had in decades.

Having the options we have available and then ultimately playing six defensive players (seven if you include Pickford) is maddening especially when you have interesting players like Grealish, Sancho and Bellingham on the bench.

JJ is right. Steve Clarke would have won that game because he would have been braver with the selection, much like he was for Scotland. The difference between Southgate and Clarke is that, Clarke made mistakes in his selection on the first game and immediately corrected them for the second. Southgate has continuously made mistakes in selection and in substitutions and seemingly isn't learning from it.

If Mount wasn't out with Covid, then I'd make the argument for putting Philips on the bench for Grealish. Mount is intelligent enough to play a more defensive role and that allows Grealish a free role, in dangerous positions where he can work his magic and buy fouls. Given that Mount is out, I can only imagine that this will force Southgate to field an even more defensive side and I wouldn't be surprised if Phillips, Rice and Henderson started.

  4. 30 mins in, JJ starts talking about Ajax players being wonderkids on Football Manager and what you feel when you see them “come alive” on the pitch. I absolutely share that feeling because I too am an avid player of Football Manager. Moreover, Italy’s current squad is filled with Football Manager wonderkids I have been managing for over 5 years, and that tells you these scouts really know what they’re doing (most of the time).

  5. Because Turnabout is fair play: Would Sancho have this hype if he wasn't one of the two players Germans had heard of?

I honestly believe that the England line up should be outsourced to Twitter and tabloids, just to shut people up.

  6. Some harsh words from Seb about Southgate, kind of glad Joe put his opinion in there to counteract. You say Steve Clarke would have won that game for England, but Steve Clarke got it quite tactically wrong in the Czech Republic game, and that was the real game that Scotland needed a good result in.

As JJ says in this very podcast when talking about Gilmore; "It's just one game". I think the same should be applied about that Scotland 0-0 in many ways.

If England fail to turn up against the Czech's and/or crash out dramatically in the RO16, then it's a different story

  7. Idea for this channel: I’d love to watch a game of football with you guys pointing out all the strategy stuff. Is there any way you could idk commentate on a game or release a real time analysis that we could watch along with the game? An alternative is you just invite me over when you watch the games so I can hang out with you

  8. I love your guys content so much! Everyday I get into bed and listen to the ‘dulcet tones’ of you three, after watching the matches. I’m sure your subscribers appreciate your work rate as much as I do ?
