That was an assault not a collision. he should have been banned for a year at least. It has to be the most disgusting tackle in football history.
If VAR was around back then don’t worry about Schumacher getting a straight red he would be going straight to jail for malicious assault

Why not ejection ?
Just to set the record straight, as a goalkeeper at that time, i can confirm that it was a legal, though unfortunate tackle. Keepers when jumping for the ball, were allowed to raise our knee and even show pegs as a keeper's guard.
If not for that rule, hundreds of keepers would be injured by attacking players at every cross or corner.
