Freestyle Football Competition – Red Bull Street Style 2013 Denmark

Freestyle soccer competitions went global in 2008 and changed its name to Red Bull Street Style. The competition opens its stage for the whole world to showcase and battle. The first world wide edition took place in Brazil, where the freestylers who advanced from respective national «battles» in more than 40 national contests met during the world finals.

3 minutes, 2 players, 1 ball: In each «battle» two players square off in a one-on-one duel against each other. They take alternating 20-second turns with the ball, using their time to show off the best of their artistic moves to the sounds of breakdance and hip-hop music.

In the finals, the judges will be evaluating the three minutes flow based on control, creativity and style. The winner advances to the next round. There are no limits – other than the standard prohibition on the use of hands and a requirement that the ball and performer stay within a 7-metre wide (27-foot) competition area.

DENMARK: FOOTBALL FAN IN STABBING INCIDENT

(17 May 2000) Danish/Nat

An Arsenal football fan was stabbed as British and Turkish soccer fans clashed outside bars in Denmark early on Wednesday.

It was hours before the UEFA Cup final between Galatasaray of Turkey and the English club Arsenal.

Police said the fighting that broke out on a main Square in Copenhagen will not affect the security operation for the game, which is already Denmark’s most extensive ever in connection with a soccer match.

Eight people were injured, including a British fan who suffered a head wound and a police officer.

Four Britons and four Turks were arrested.

But fans arriving in Copenhagen from both Britain and Turkey were not put off by the incident.

» Not at all. Hopefully it is an isolated incident these things happen, its no worse to the west end on a Saturday night in London. I follow my club at the end of the day and enjoy myself. I’ll just be careful and watch what I do. So I’m not worried. I book my ticket for the game I’m not going to miss it.»

Official Football Highlights: Denmark 1 – 2 England 09/02/11

FATV – Goals from Darren Bent and Ashley Young secure 2-1 win in Denmark.

England got 2011 off to a winning start in Copenhagen, putting in a competent and impressive performance to see off Denmark and head into next month’s European Championship qualifier with Wales in good spirit.

Goals from Aston Villa duo Darren Bent and Ashley Young proved the difference after falling behind to an early goal from Denmark but it was England’s controlling display in the second half which will please Manager Fabio Capello the most.

The Three Lions retained possession well and could even have added to their goal tally, but after the disappointment of their last game with France in November, a win was the main objective here and that was exactly what they achieved.
