Should Denmark's star players play despite bizarre dispute with FA? | The Debate

Denmark were forced to play Slovakia with a team made up of unknown lower-league and Futsal players. But how has it come to this?

The Danish Football Association (DBU) named a severely under-strength squad for Wednesday’s friendly in Trnava, losing 3-0, and the same set of players may also be used against Wales in the Uefa Nations League on Sunday.

This all came about as a result of a dispute between the DBU and the players’ union (Spillerne) meaning the majority of players are unavailable, including the entirety of the squad which reached the last 16 of the World Cup this summer.

  1. How can you say, that Denmark overachieved at the world cup? They were on an undefeated streak for over a year lasting 15 international games before it even started. Then they made it to the round of 16 despite that Eriksen was totally off his game and barely made a decent pass in any of the four matches… If anything, they underachieved.

  2. Hey Sky Sports, you're discussions are useless so why don't you try changing things up and stop employing people like Gordon Strachen who doesn't know anything and spend all that money you're getting from us by taking away England games from free television on something more useful

  3. 1 bloke found out 10mins ago.
    Another is talking about futsal,
The other says his not watching this.
WTF get some proper ppl in.
    Preferably someone who doesn't say 'a wee-bit'

  4. Honestly. This is the most lackluster discussion about this topic that i have watched. You would think Sky Sport would have some kind of insight. Especially considering this is super outdated to upload today! Where the team is going to play with the best players against Wales… why have a discussion uploaded when its this wrong. They dont even touch on what some of the main point in the dispute is. Like commercial rights, working to worker rights and so on. Seriously this is embarrising to upload.

  5. If they play a weak side that get smashed by wales they shouldn't be able to play full strength against the irish next month because it will make the nations league a joke of a competition .. there should be more rules regarding squad selection to prevent the nations league being a joke

  6. Frankly I'd say they should have resolved it behind closed doors. They owe it to their fans to turn up and put a shift in. If I had the chance to pull on a Wales jersey, you can bet your life there's no dispute on earth that'd stop me walking out onto that pitch.
